New Stuff

What’s New For 2019?

A boatload of new stuff is coming to Walt Disney World in 2019. Here are the things the Main Street Pop In Team is looking forward to most.

A Galaxy No Longer So Far Away

Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Hollywood Studios will open in the late fall of 2019. It will include two new attractions (Smugglers Run and Rise of the Resistance), new and original music by composer John Williams (you know, the guy who wrote the original Star Wars theme song), a street market, and “the Cantina.”

A New Way To Get To The Parks

The Disney Skyliner gondola transportation system will begin service in the fall of 2019. It will connect Hollywood Studios and Epcot to four resort hotels—Art of Animation, Pop Century, Caribbean Beach and the new Riviera Resort.

Hollywood Studio’s Nightlife

A new Wonderful World of Animation Nighttime Show will debut in Hollywood Studios in May of 2019. It will be a projection show highlighting more than 90 years of Disney animation history.

Illumination’s Replacement

Epcot Forever, a new nighttime show featuring classic Epcot tunes, starts in the fall of 2019. It will only run for a limited time before it is replaced by a yet-to-be-revealed nighttime spectacular in 2020.

The First Mickey- and Minnie-themed Attraction

The opening of Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railroad attraction at Hollywood Studios was announced for 2019. Disney Parks Chairman, Bob Chapek, said in November it would open in “about a year”.

An Added France Pavilion Show

A Beauty and the Beast Sing-Along at Epcot will open in the France Pavilion in 2019. Although it will use the same theatre as Impressions de France, the retro movie is not going away. It is simply sharing its space with the new sing-along.

New Places To Stay

Gran Destino Tower (July 2019) is already taking reservations and Disney Vacation Club’s Riviera Resort (Fall 2019) will follow suit soon. We’re waiting to hear if the new Star Wars resort will open along with the new land in the late fall of 2019.

Eating In Space

A Space-themed restaurant in Epcot may appear in the spring or summer between Mission Space and Test Track. The Disney Food Blog reports that the Patina Restaurant Group has posted online looking for applicants to work in an Epcot Space 220 Restaurant in Florida with an April 2019 date to “join the crew.”

For Hoop Lovers

NBA Experience opens in 2019 in Disney Springs. Fans will be able to feel the thrill of the NBA Draft, step onto the court, execute a slam dunk, watch the league’s most fascinating replays, play video games, and more. Of course, there will also be a gift shop. It is Disney after all.

  1. Hey Cars Fans! Coming in early 2019 is a new show at Hollywood Studios called Lightening McQueen’s Racing Academy. Lightening shares his love of racing with guests via a wraparound screen in the new Sunset Showcase to be located between Tower of Terror and Rock N Rollercoaster.
