Disney Resorts – So Many Choices

Updated November 2021

Disney offers a dizzying array of resort choices to fit all types of budgets. There are many, many benefits to staying at a Disney resort: excellent service and location, free use of Disney’s bus, monorail and boat transportation, extra theme park hours, and early access to Fastpasses.

Disney has four categories of resorts which are pretty self-explanatory: Value, Moderate, Deluxe, and Villa.

Disney Value Resorts include the All-Star Sports Resort, All-Star Movies Resort, All-Star Music Resort, Pop Century Resort, Art of Animation Resort, and the Fort Wilderness Campground Campsites.

Disney Moderate Resorts include the Caribbean Beach Resort, Coronado Springs Resort, Port Orleans French Quarter, Port Orleans Riverside, and the Fort Wilderness Cabins.

Disney Deluxe Resorts include Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge, Beach Club Resort, Boardwalk Inn, Contemporary Resort, Grand Floridian Resort and Spa, Polynesian Village Resort, Wilderness Lodge, Yacht Club Resort, and the Star Wars Galactic Cruiser (coming soon). The Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Hotel are not technically owned by Disney, but are located in the heart of Disney’s Boardwalk and receive many of the same guest perks.

Deluxe Villas include Animal Kingdom Lodge Villas, Bay Lake Tower, Boulder Ridge Villas, Beach Club Villas, Boardwalk Villas, Copper Creek Villas and Cabins, The Villas at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Spa, Old Key West Resort, Polynesian Villas and Bungalows, Saratoga Springs Resort and Spa, Treehouse Villas, and Riviera Resort.

Pricing at each level changes depending on the type of room, time of year, view, etc. Value Resorts are in the $180-$200 range (campsites are around $110) and Moderate Resorts in the $200-$300 range (Ft. Wilderness Cabins are in the $400s). Deluxe resorts and Villas range dramatically in prices as they have a much wider selection of sizes, views, and suites, so they start in the $400 range and go up into the thousands.

The good news is that Disney almost always has package deals and room-rate reductions available. They also offer discounts for Florida residents, annual passholders and Disney Vacation Club members.
